Review of Hjaltalín at the Freebutt Brighton on Jan 21st 2009…”The icing on the cake is ‘The Boy Next Door”. I nearly cried during this point, its graceful and full of exquisite adorn. “You’ll be fine,” sings Rebekka. I have to be, because there’s a celebration on the horizon tonight in the name of living.”

Review of the Sebastien Tellier gig at Concorde 2, Brighton on Jan 25th. “…Sebastien Tellier at the Concorde was enough to tempt us out into the rain. Tellier is perhaps best known for its controversial Eurovision 2008 entry on behalf of France…tonight’s performance was impressive and exceeded my expectations”

A review of the Lymbyc Systym gig at The Freebutt Brighton on Jan 13th 2008. “Two Brooklyn based brothers; Mike and Jared Bell fuse electronica with a post rock element to produce instrumental tracks that sound like a bastard child of Explosions in the Sky and Fridge…”

A review of the Spacedog gig at The Freebutt on 13th December 2008. A great night with a quirky fun band of sound artists. Dolls, theramin, singing saw, waterphone, Portishead and more.

A live review of Salter Cane, a local alt-country band with an incredibly passionate lead singer, a Bouzouki and a real life American to add the authenticity. A great night of top Americana.

Live review of the Levis OnesToWatch Fight Like Apes gig at Audio, Brighton. “Fight Like Apes carry the Midnight Juggernauts’ ravey interface, a whole load of Fiery Furnace rhyming sensibility and Architecture In Helsinki quirk-in-your face.”

Live review of Mercury Rev at The Concorde Brighton in November 2008. A majestic performance, but and unusual one for the Rev, and a return to a former psychedelic sound. Supported by an incredibly rude and arrogant Howling Bells. A great night.

Live review of Lambchop at St George’s Church Brighton in October 2008. A night of pirate based humour, some great tracks, the entire new album and a quiet crowd. There’s a few videos too.
