Duke Of York’s Cinema celebrates 100 years

Duke Of York's Cinema, Brighton

“The Duke’s at 100″ is a new book revealing the history of Brighton’s best-loved cinema, The Duke Of York’s.

The Duke Of York’s is EASILY the best place in town to see new art house cinema and interesting mainstream releases. It also provides a platform for live music; last year saw the dark country twanging of Giant Sand among other performances. The dark prince of Hove (known to some as Nick Cave) called it: “one of Britain’s truly great independent cinemas. The jewel in the crown of Brighton. I love it.”

Read more about the book here. Anyone in the mood for a film tonight should know that Jurassic Park is playing at The Duke’s at 11pm! Mark is going along. I bet massive drunken screams will erupt throughout the auditorium when the T-Rex appears. And that hisses break out for that pesky troublemaker Nedry. Boo and indeed Hiss to Nedry. But hooray for The Duke Of York’s!
