Photos and video of Sufjan Stevens at Brighton Dome, 15/05/2011. By Graham P.

Sufjan Stevens mesmerised the Brighton Dome last night. There were dancers, balloons, confetti, angel wings and a fluorescent stage show. Behind the band, outsider art-inspired video projections attempted to send us to a different mental cosmos. The setlist was mainly sourced from Sufjan’s latest album Age of Adz. But there were a few songs from the All Delighted People E.P. as well as older material from Illinois. The night kicked off with a bang when Seven Swans reached its rousing crescendo. Check out video footage below.
Below is another clip from the song Age of Adz. The projections are based on the artwork of Royal Robertson, an outsider artist, whose drawings and paintings influenced Sufjan.
At one point Sufjan donned a cone shaped hat. Later on he would dance around the stage wearing a monkey mask. The night finished with the band ripping through Chicago, as confetti and baloons rained down on the crowd. A truly immense evening.
